Fine Prints (image size approximately 67cm x 100cm) are now available of 'The Last Supper' by Giulio Romano c1525. The prints are on German Hahnmuhle Archival Rag paper 308gsm and 100% cotton. The prints are $980.00 plus postage. The are available only from Bonnefin Gallery and are impressed with our seal of authenticity.
The orginal painting by Raphael's student (and possibly adopted son), Giulio Romano, represents a high point in the Mannerist Movement of Renaissance Art and was painted only decades after Leonardo Da Vinci's famous Last Supper in Milan.
The iconic work is replete with religious symbolism. It freezes in time the point at which Jesus announces that one of his disciples will betray him this very night while Judas looks past Christ as he moves the pieces of silver out of Christ's line of sight. Judas is the only one wearing shoes. The 'Bassano' style knife seems to suggest that Judas considers he has had his position as a disciple usurped. The fold of the table cloth proffers a trinity style placement mid painting while the thirty something disciples, asking each other 'is it you 'cause it's not me' contrasts vividly with the innocence of the fifteen year old boy (with an Adam's Apple clearly visible) on Christ's right.
